Gerhard Basson, a general and specialist surgeon at Midstream Mediclinic, matriculated in 1996 at Hoërskool Randburg and went on to study medicine at the University of Pretoria where he attained his MBChB degree in 2002 and then completed his Internship at Johannesburg General Hospital.

In 2004, Dr Basson completed community service in a rural hospital in Carolina, Mpumalanga and continued his studies in 2005 to specialise in general surgery at the University of Pretoria.
He attained his FCS and MMed in general surgery in 2010.

After completion of his studies Dr Basson started working in private practice and has extensive experience and special interests in laparoscopic and upper gastro-intestinal surgery and hernia repairs.
